September 4-5, 2010 Panhandle Bass Club explores new options.  Lay Lake Saturday, Lake Mitchell Sunday.  A strong showing traveled on Thursday to be able to pre-fish both bodies of water.  Reports were mixed with Lay being the toughest.  Most everyone who fished Mitchell found some fish and good ones too.  Our boy Richie couldn’t stand it so he went back Friday and sore mouthed some more in the same spot.  Everyone managed some pre-fishing time by getting on the water Friday and as reported the bite on Lay was spotty at best.

Walter rode up with me and fished with me on Friday since Richi9e was already on the water.  We found some pretty good fish but they were scattered.  Artie did not get off work ‘til 6:30 Friday and found a wreck on the interstate at Evergreen so it was midnight when he woke us up.

Saturday morning almost everyone was in the water and ready at safe daylight…well I guess everyone was ready, only Foshee was on the wrong lake!  And that was the beginning of his weekend.

We blasted off; I immediately caught four spots all short!  We worked the spots I had caught fish before and no keepers.  We moved to some old spots and Artie put it on me quick.  He was boating good solid fish and I was catching dinks!  John B had been on a good bite Friday but they quit with the high pressure dome.  We saw Mack but did not get a report.

At the weigh in stringers were mixed, there were four 7 fish limits.  Artie had lunker 3.41, nice fish.  Foshee finally found Lay and managed 3rd place with 5 fish, 11.81, he then tested the ramp and found the concrete stronger than his arm.   Chris was 2nd 7 fish 12.86 and Richie led with 7 for 14.95.  Wayne was very quiet as Dora had put on a clinic and doubled his catch.

We found Mitchell without any major incident on Sunday.  There was a lot of anticipation after the prefish catch, although it was only 56 that morning.  Artie and I went to our first spot and I immediately boated a 2.5 pounder, then it stopped.  On our second spot we saw schoolies on the point…they were carp (but big ones!).  We started to hole #1, but Richie beat us there, we moved back and saw Big Rich with 4 fish.  I managed to put #7 in the boat and headed to weigh-in.

Results were several good stringers.   Jim Bell had his first limit, LUCKY 13!  Chris takes 3rd with 21.3, big Rich is 2nd with 21.7 and Richie maintained 1st with 27.93.  Good tournament Richie, and thanks for helping Walter.

Fish off is next month at Weiss lake.  Hopefully it will be a good one.

Keep your line wet!!
