Alabama River at Claiborne was our designated tournament site for November.   With the high water, muddy stained conditions and a less than perfect ramp, anticipations were less than positive.  We found the water level high as expected however it was fishable.  The fog created an unexpected element for most of us before blastoff.  Reports were Ken and Richie drifting and idling the wrong way as far as 2 miles from the ramp before blast off.  Wayne and Dora found a place to hide when several boats blasted by them.  Artie and I just fished until we could see something about 8:00.

Early reports were big Rich had a limit early on cranks, but most others were struggling.   As the day went on some were being caught on spinner baits some of worms and some on cranks but all were ‘just here and there’.  Batteries were tested with the current, Lee finally went home early and mine were screaming.  Boat recovery went well, no slipping or sliding on the ramp…even John Buck got out without help.

At the scales we had 18 fishermen with fish.  A surprising number of fish were brought in although all were on the small side.  Mack finished 3rd with 7 fish weighing 10.27 and big fish all on spinner bait drifting with the current throwing into slack water.  Big Rich took 2nd with a limit weighting 10.44 on cranks and Mr. Senior Statesman Andy took top honors with 7 fish weighing 10.93 pounds.  Congratulations to all who caught fish and to all who had no problems…another good day on the water.

Keep your line wet!!
