May 5, 2010 Meeting Called to Order at: 6:29 pm

Secretary Report:  Read and accepted

Treasurers Report:  Read and accepted

Old Business:

·         Fred got tentative approval from the Imperial palace on a free night so it was added to the raffle tickets.

·         The club bought 1000 tickets which cost $84.70

·         There is currently 1 opening for membership – no names mentioned as candidates

·         It was brought up that the Quarterly $10 raffle is considered mandatory and that we had several members not participating.  Also brought up that only 14 of 22 present in April participated in the 50/50 raffle

·         The 50/50 raffle in May generated $42.50 to the club and was won by Wayne Thomley

New Business:

·         The membership was advised of the e-board meeting and the corrections made to the By Laws, Fish Off and SOP addition which was read to the club and provided to Ken for publishing on the website.

·         Wayne presented his position that if the e board has to meet on a rule change, etc, the president will bring It to the membership in September as a by law or amendment change so the club can vote on its merit.

·         Reviewed that each member must attend 8 tournaments to be fish off eligible with 6 from their boat.

·         Wayne advised that the motel at Weiss has $55 rooms which sleep 3 so advise Wayne if interested.

·         Check our Bassteamtackle.com if you want shakee heads and tungsten.

Tournament Report:

·         Mack reviewed the 10 rooms for Millers Ferry - Chuck Cone committed to a room but didn’t show up at the meeting or advise anyone he wanted to fish.  The Eboard met and decided that he would be responsible for half the room fee to his roommate.

·         Mack reviewed the 13 rooms for Cooters Pond in June – no changes identified

·         It was mentioned to be quiet in the AM at the hotel.

·         Reviewed the strong Jordan tournament results and paid the winners.

·         Boo ray was caught at 5.55 pounds with $118 going to Fred Raby as the winner!

Meeting Adjourned at 7:07 pm

Sincerely,

Ron Fairbanks (Secretary)

Millers Ferry Tournament Summary

21 members and 3 guests headed up to Miller Ferry with expectations high.  Millers Ferry is one of the favorites of many club members and those with the secret honey holes seem to produce nice bags despite the springtime tournament pressure.

As Friday started, those who headed up to pre –fish were faced with muddy main river water and stained creeks and lakes (except for Richie’s private hole that was supposedly as clear as Seminole).  I went to some local favorite areas and was quickly able to pick up a 4lb on a frog and a 6 pounder on a #%@&*$.  The fish were everywhere and were hitting most baits thrown.  Since they ate so well, some were questioning how hungry they would be on tournament day!

Saturday morning came and Ellis was wide open with only one other club present so launching was easy with the Panhandle guys, as usual, being first to the ramp.  Based on the feedback from many, the fishing quality was a bit smaller on T day but a few guys found the fish!  It appears the worm bite was not the ticket like it was on Jordan and while some were caught, the top few anglers power fished with spinner baits, frogs, jigs for the most part.  Locations are still unknown to me but they were off the main river and you just covered water and eventually got them to bite.

Tony “don’t show me your best spots” Boyett came in victorious with16.79 pounds of heads.  Richie would have been only 2 hundredths back but with a dead fish penalty ended up at 16.57 pounds.  Rich Hardy came in 3rd with 15.07 pounds.  We caught 113 fish

averaging 5.75 fish per person at weigh in!   We collectively caught 198.33 pounds of fish for an average angler catch of 9.92 pounds per angler!
