July 7, 2010 Meeting Called to Order at: 6:29 pm

Secretary Report:  Read and accepted

Treasurers Report:  Read and accepted

Old Business:

·         Secretary reviewed the names of the 4 anglers who needed the final 3 tournaments to qualify for the Classic.

·         Wayne discussed the need for time limits on the discussions during September proposals meeting.  It was decided by the membership that no time limits should be imposed.

·         Tony still has some Panhandle shirt transfers left so se Tony if interested.

·         Wayne reminded everyone that the all tickets and money are due at the August meeting and the draw will be done at the meeting.

New Business:

·

Asked membership if anyone was interested in any board positions.  Charles Loyed volunteered for Secretary.

·         Talked about new member who nobody knows- It was decided that should he decide to come to a few meetings and fish with a member, they could then nominate him if appropriate.

·         The club decided by vote not to participate in any proposed BP lawsuit on behalf of fishing clubs in the area.

·         The 50/50 raffle was won by Andy Seago and $40 went to the club.

·         It was mentioned that either crazy glue or a lighter can be used to stiffen the new Scoundrel bills.

·         Membership was advised that anyone who wants to propose an alternate banquet site must do the research.

Tournament Report:

·         Mack reviewed that for Claiborne, we are staying at the Royal Inn @ $40+ per night.

·         Reviewed rooms for Claiborne

·         Payoff for Cooters Pond

·         Reminded that weigh in was at 2 pm Saturday at Holly Creek

Alabama River Tournament Summary

Not sure what to say other than HOTTER THAN H---!  20 members launched at the Boatyard with at least one I heard losing a truck part to the hanging branch over the road at the entrance!

Thank goodness for the 2pm weigh in as many were back at the ramp early and some as early as noon getting cooled in the truck.  I can tell you that at Idle the 2010 Tahoe with max air and the air conditioned seats on has a fuel consumption of only .4 gallon per hour.

As for the fishing, most found it very tough but a few members always seem to find them.  With only 1 limit, and some good anglers including our current #1 getting shut out, it was by no means automatic.  It appears the worm bite was the primary pattern with an occasional Buzz bait bonus fish early.  The great news is that in the hottest month of the year with water temps between 88-90 degrees, we didn’t lose a single fish!  Great job keeping your fish alive!

We did have a hammer nominee that big Rich said should be good enough to engrave the plaque!  At the weigh in, those with fish stood in a sweltering heat to show off their skills and when Andy showed up at the scales, he poured his bag into the tub and other than a water bottle, there was nothing left in the bag?  I expect the heat was taking as much out of him as it did the rest of us which just made it that much worse as he had to hike back to the boat to pull the lone fish out of the live well and bring it back to the scales.  Some shouted a 1 weigh in per angler rule should be established! Evidently this was a first for the Panhandle club so congratulations Andy, you are now infamous.

With a total club weight of just over 80 pounds, let’s hope for better fishing in August at Claiborne!  Stay cool…

Sincerely,

Ron Fairbanks (Secretary)
