Issacs Creek on Claiborne Lake was the tournament choice for our August event.  It was HOT, literally.  Most members went up on Friday to witness the experiences of Jim Bell.  It is reported that Cliffie and Billy got together and put the mojo on Jim…I guess he will draw #13 for the rest of the year.  He came in Friday with ‘boat problems’, apparently he had run on a mud bar and clogged his water pump.  Mack rose to the occasion and came to assistance in clearing the mud and sand from Jims cooling system.  On tournament day and qualifying for the HAMMER Jim had a weak battery and crossed the leads trying to get power and started a fire.  They found a fire extinguisher and got it put out without major damage.  In the meantime Mr. Repine also had a dead battery and needed assistance in getting his rig ready.

Saturday it was HOT.  We had 14 members and 3 guest looking for Mr. Bass.  The numbers were called out in strict order, and blast off went smoothly.  Most members went to short river spots, a few tried the creeks.  Wayne and Dora started  low with little action so decided to run, and run north.  Richie and John had already made the long run and were fishing tree tops above the 10 bridge.  Lee had a guide and went to his secret spots (probably one of my holes).  It was HOT.  Finally 2:00pm rolled around and the stringers were a little short on fish.  No limits, Lee took 3rd with 1 fish 4.19, Richie found 5 for 6.07 and squeezed into 2nd, and Wayne moved up on Big Rich a few points with 6 fish weighing  8.47.  Mr. Repine found a local guide, but forgot where he told him to fish.  Ron and Steve G left early, had to beat the traffic back home.  There were 3 guests, Jim Bell, Sr took guest honors with 1 fish for 1.85lbs., Dora provided motivation for Wayne.

Hopefully, September will offer some cooler weather as we head to Lay/Mitchell for a 2 day event.

Until then, Keep your line wet.
