Lake Jordan was the site for our April tournament.  A couple of adventurous souls (Andy and John K) decided to get wet in the thunderstorm Thursday morning.  John ended up sleeping ‘til noon in his truck while waiting for the rain to subside.  Andy, of course had to get that fishing time in.  Most of the remaining 22 members went up Friday morning in various convoys, some stopping for the customary Shoney’s breakfast.  I had been invited to spend the weekend with a friend and met up with Phillip about noon.

By that time Friday I was actually tired of catching fish.  It seemed like no matter what I threw or where I threw it I caught good fish.  That seemed to be the case for most everyone on Friday.  Most of mine came on a white chatterbait and some on buzz bait.

Tournament day found a major tournament and two other club tourneys out of the State ramp.  We managed to avoid most of the congestion as we arrived early enough to get in with a minimal amount of problems.  Phillip and I went to my spot first and I boated a 5.55 lb largemouth on about the third cast..  I put two more good fish in the boat and he wanted to take me to some big fish.  Walter had followed me in to my first spot but could only watch his nephew boat fish.  John B and John R were about a mile away and had a limit early.  At the scales John  had the lead, with John just behind.  With    limits this tournament was still wide open.  I had big fish with my 5.55 lb largemouth on a chug bug.  Our guests showed well with    leading

Meal time scattered  into several groups, Phillip’s wife had barbequed pork chops, corn on the cob, snap peas salad and banana pudding mmmmmmmmmmm good.

Sunday blast off was much more calm, we were the only group at the state ramp and we quickly ran to our spots.  Again we found fish early, but they slowed quickly and we spent a lot of time looking for Mr. Big.  Walter continued his excellent guide service, Dora got ahead of Wayne creating some discontent in the boat.  At weigh in limits were down some but still some good catches.  Tony lead the day , John B had another limit. John K slipped some but still managed 3rd place with 14 fish-32.13 lbs., Tony moved up to 2nd with 14 fish-33.75 lbs. and  John B wins again with 14 fish-37.52 lbs.             .

Without the stats I think this was the most guests we have ever had and they all caught fish.   Dora lead the guest list with 11 fish-21.05 lbs, my partner Phillip was 2nd with 9 fish-19.87 lbs., and John B. Jr. was 3rdwith 10 fish-17.09 Lbs..  This was by far one of the best overall tournaments we have had as a club with

number of fish caught and a beautiful place to fish not to mention perfect weather.

** Note:This tournament set a new club record for fish caught at 228 ( previous 201-Lake Jordan 2009 ) and weight 472.96 lbs. ( previous 395.12 lbs.-Lake Jordan 2009)

Next month we go to Millers Ferry and hopefully enjoy equal success.

Keep your line wet!!
