Ken Repine

 1.

Hi, my name is Ken “ Big Foot “ Repine and I have the distinct honor of being the 1st nominee of this year’s ” Hammer Award  “ ( I think it is going to be a long year . )

It all started like this”

It’s 4:00 a. m. and my truck has a dead battery. What a way to start the day. After a quick jump start I am ready and on my way to the launch ramp. As I am driving along I think to myself, “ things always come in 3’s, but I am not superstitious. After launching in the pea soup fog that has set in on the water, I eased my way to the dam to fish the moving water, but they are not pulling water yet so I waited and waited and waited. Now what do I do, they are not pulling any water. As I once again think to myself, things always come in 3’s, but I am not superstitious. By now it is getting close to weigh in time. I had managed to catch 3 fish to weigh in even though they are still not pulling any water at the dam. Well, I thought, I am going to beat the rush to get off the water. I pulled my boat to the bank and attempted to step out of the boat and slipped, pushing the boat back off the bank when one of my size 18 shoes stuck in the mud and the other size 18 stuck under the trolling motor head. This caused me to loose my balance and fall into the water. Now I am hanging upside down in the water ( life jacket on ). I tried to use my one hand to pull the boat back to the bank, but the water movement was strong enough to prohibit that. I did manage to hold on till John Stafford was able to get to me and rescue me, freeing  my foot from under the trolling motor head. Once free I was able to stand up and secure my boat. Only my left side was wet while my right side remained dry. Then once again the thought came to me “ things always come in 3’s “ Well perhaps I am superstitious “ or at least in this case things did come in 3’s.
