Walter
McCartney
8.
Hi, my name is Walter McCartney. I received the # 8 nomination
for the “ Hammer Award for my gracious attempt to
return my day’s catch to their home environment. I attempted to place my fish back in the water
and I could see a couple were struggling to get to deeper water and were caught
on the rocks in extremely shallow water. I leaned forward to give them a boost
to get them on their way and in doing so lost my balance. I stepped in shin
deep with one foot then managed to regain my balance. I looked quickly over
my shoulder hoping no members saw me. Too late, all were applauding and laughing.
Oh well I have joined many competitors for this marvelous club award.
Additional resume for Hammer Award
Upon
arriving at the Lay Lake Dam parking lot. I did like everyone else. I unhooked
my boat straps and made sure my plug was in lace prior to launching my boat.
Once launched my vehicle was placed in one of the
parking spots. When I returned at weigh in time I noticed a piece of paper
on the windshield. I first thought it was just some locals putting a flyer
there to announce some upcoming tournament or some other event. I removed
it and prior to discarding it in my floorboard, ( there
are no trash receptacles at the launch site ) I noticed that it was a handicap
parking ticket. Then I noticed that my van and trailer had been parking in
a handicap spot all day long and now I would be the only one paying for parking
in a free state boat launch. There was also no no one around
that I could plead my case to about me being mentally challenged. Thus I have
added my name to a long list of nominees ( half the
club ) for this ward.
