"From the desk of Fred Raby"

We kicked off the month of August with our IP $1,000 and free weekend raffle.  It  was won by April Whalen.  I am sure she will enjoy her weekend.

Our tournament was on Claiborne out of Isaac’s Landing.  Most went up on Friday and reports indicated a few fish were caught.  No real established patterns were reported other than Ken Repine bringing in a good 3+ pounder on a junebug worm.  All arrived at blastoff on time and the launch went without major problems.  All went north.

Most everyone fished the river banks.  Artie and I started in a small creek and I boated a good keeper largemouth on a frog right away.  We moved out on the river and saw Mack coming out of another creek, Sarge was just south fishing the river and creek mouths.  As we worked our way up the bank I put 2 more in the boat on the frog in 18’ water.  Then it was Arties turn, he cast past a log with his junebug trick and boated a 4.1 pound largemouth, he was so excited he forgot to squeal.  Ken came up a few minutes later and said “get out of my hole”!  I asked if that was where he caught his fish Friday and he said he forgot.  He had been working about a mile and a half looking for the spot.

At weigh-in, Artie got his bubble burst, Tony came in with a 4.6 to take lunker.  There  was  a good number of fish caught, only 1 limit, 2 left early.  Richie had 6 for 3rd place and 9.46 pounds.  Lee took 2nd with 6 fish weighing 10.47 and Mr. Claiborne, Tony won with a limit and 12.05.  Congratulations to the winners.

Everyone made it home without problems and we beat the afternoon showers.
