June

Panhandle Bass Club fished upper Tensaw out of Hubbard’s for our June tournament.  20 members showed up for our tournament.  Blast off was completed about 5:15 a. m. Most boats headed south, some further south than others.  We were faced with a low tide scheduled for 5:47 a. m.

A boat wake shortened Frank K.’s day with a back sprain, hopefully he is ok.  John S. had to quit early because of the heat.   Walter had motor problems so his options were limited, however he did make it all day and had a couple of fish.

It seemed like most struggled.  I found a couple of fish early near Stiggins, I saw Charles L. and he hadn’t done anything.  I moved to Globe and managed a keeper on a crank, then Chris stopped to check us out, he had 2, and I had one trying to pull my C-Rig out of my hand.  Steve G. came by and wanted to claim ‘my hole’, but he quickly realized I have been fishing that hole since before he was born, so he moved on.  He had 4 at that time.  I talked with John K and John B, both had 1.  Artie and I continued to work a small trough that seemed to hold fish.  We boated 4 in a row on cranks, then moved to the shady side and picked up a few more on buzz baits.

Back at the weigh in, Steve G. had 3rd place with his 4 fish (out of my hole) for  7.21 lbs.       , all on horny toads, John B moved into 2nd with a limit for  8.22, on cranks, and worms, and yours truly managed 1st for the second time this year with a limit weighing  8.69, worms, cranks and buzz bait worked for me.  Mack got lucky with his buzz bait for the lunker, 2.98.  Congrats to the winners, be sure to prepare for the heat.  This time of year is brutal and you need plenty of water.

Keep your line wet.
