NEW BUSINESS:
Our "July" tournament which was canceled do to the hurricane last month will be made up on August 13th, at Choctawhatchee River out of Simplers landing. We will leave from University mall at 3:00 a.m.
August Tournament:
The August tournament was held on the Alabama River out of Holley Creek landing. The river was stained and a little high, and the bite was expected to be tough.
A few of the guys pre-fished a few days prior to the tournament and really struggled. The weather and the river conditions were very much the same come tournament time. Some of the guys went north and some went south, but most stayed around the holley creek area for the most part. At weigh-in time, only 6 of 18 anglers had 3 or more fish, and only one limit was weighed in. Rich Cornelius was the fortunate one with the limit, and he also had big fish for the day by a very slim margin of .01, that's close. The baits of choice were spinners and crank baits, and pitching soft plastics to heavy cover.
