OLD BUSINESS:
There was not a 50/50 draw this month.
We opened the meeting up with nominations from the floor for new E-board officers, there were no nominations, so the proposed E-board was voted in by acclamation. First, the club thanks Chris Malena, Frank Kelly and Cliff Armstrong for serving on the board for the 2003/2004 seasons. Fred Raby remains the club President and Rich Cornelius stays on as club secretary. The new E-Board for the 2004/2005 seasons is as follows:
President - Fred Raby
Treasurer - Mack Cramer
Tournament Dir. - W. McCartney
Secretary - Rich Cornelius
Asst Tourn Dir - Wayne Thomley
Congratulations to the newly elected E-Board.
All the "proposed rule changes" were read, clarified and voted on.
The "revised 2004/2005 club rules" have been passed on to Jim Bailey sr. to be posted on our web site. Copies will be passed out at the next meeting to all the members present.
A phone roster will be passed around at the next meeting to update any changes that might have been made.
The clubs special fund helped out those eligible for the Fish-off a great deal, our goal is to do even better next time around. It does benefit those who fish enough tournaments to qualify for the Fish-off. The E-Board will meet prior to the November meeting to come up with a 2004/2005 tournament schedule, which will be presented at the November 3rd club meeting. We will try our best to come up with a schedule that everyone will enjoy.
NEW BUSINESS:
Fred Raby talked about potential member guests being paired with the first boater with an empty seat. Please be courteous in these situations. We also had 2 nominations for next years Fish-off site, Mack Cramer nominated the Delacroix in Louisiana and Walter McCartney nominated Guntersville Lake in North Alabama.
If anyone would like to submit their nomination please do so in writing, it must contain all the pertinent information such as lodging, distance of travel and time, ( 10 hour max ), landing sites, restaurants, license requirements, size limits of bass and anything else you think is important.
All nominated and submitted sites for next years Fish-off will be voted on in December by a majority vote.
Remember, the Fish-off is the only tournament of the year held on a (Friday and Saturday), safe daylight till 4p.m. on both days.
October Tournament:
The October tournament was held at Lake Eufaula out of Lake Point Marina. We had 13 members present with 12 boats ready to go on Friday morning. The water clarity looked good for the most part, stained in the river and in most places, a light stain to clear in the creeks. The wind held steady around 15 mph for the entire tournament it seemed, and as luck would have it, out of the East or N. East, go figure. The locals had said the fishing had been really tough for a week or so, probably due to Hurricane Gene that dumped a load of rain there, and they were right. For Eufaula, it was a very tough tournament. The total fish caught for two days was 56. Buzz baits and frogs, worms and crank baits worked for the most part, the bite was slow to say the least.
There was some nice fish weighed in, Wayne Cox had big fish and the boo-ray for day one with a 6.63 lb largemouth. Mack Cramer took day two boo-ray with a nice one that weighed 5.19, and Dave Rogers took the big fish pot with 5.48 pounder.
Dave was not eligible for the boo-ray. All in all, we all had fun and enjoyed ourselves being away from the destruction that Hurricane Ivan left behind back home, even if it was just a few days.
