October Tournament:

The October tournament/fish-off was held out of McFarland Park in Florence Alabama on Day one.
Day two the club launched from Sheffield landing due to the large tournament already scheduled for McFarland Park. The tournament was held on a Friday and Saturday instead of the usual Saturday and Sunday and also had a 4 p.m. weigh-in each day.
Pickwick Lake was new for the majority of the club, only a few had the opportunity to visit it prior to this tournament. Catching smallmouth bass was everyone's intentions and a few did just that, but it was the largemouth that dominated. The fishing was tough considering that the water level was low and the number of boats on the water, most people had to pick a number to fish a spot that looked like it would hold fish, rock jetty's, points and creek mouths were hammered. The wind was a factor especially towards the Bear creek area. Everyone enjoyed the tournament for the most part but it could have been better if the fish would have cooperated a little more.
Thats why they call it fishing.
Soft plastics were the bait of choice for most, although Chris Malena faired very well with rattle traps. Troy "theres one" Beedle caught a very nice 6.21 largemouth on day one and as it turned out was the heaviest bass of the year weighed in. Troy finished second overall with 12.56 lbs for the tournament. Good job Troy. Chris Malena had big fish on day two that weighed 4.60 lbs and he also won the tournament with a total of 14.24 lbs with 8 fish caught. Frank Kelly took third place honors with 6 fish that weighed 8.85 lbs, way to go Frank. Frank was fishing from the back of the boat , YW's boat, so once again, good job Frank.
