OLD BUSINESS:
The May meeting was the one year anniversary for the Panhandle Bass Club. Up to this point, the club has been doing great, we are in the process of getting hats and shirts made and hopefully they will be ready by the June meeting. If you have not yet paid your money to get your shirt and hat ordered, get with Fred as soon as possible.
We had a couple of items that were auctioned off, Troy Beedle jumped on a (cull kit) and Cliff Armstrong purchased a (tackle organizer). As usual, Wally did a great job as our auctioneer.
NEW BUSINESS:
We had a raffle ticket drawing at the start of the meeting, 50/50. Fred Raby was the lucky winner.
If anyone has anything they would like to have auctioned off, please bring it to one of the meetings, every little bit helps towards the fish-off. Just a reminder, the June, July and August tournaments will have a 2 P.M. weigh-in.
We have three new prospective members coming to the club, all three were sponsored by Wayne Cox. That will put our member count to 23. The Club has a 25 man cap.
April Tournament:
The May tournament was held out of Ellis landing at Miller's Ferry. We had 17 members present at safe daylight ready to blast off. The weather was partly cloudy to mostly sunny on day one. The river was high and muddy with a lot of logs and debris coming down the river. Finding some clear water wasn't much of a problem though. The bite was tough but as usual someone finds a way to catch a decent bag of fish. At the weigh-in, Wayne Thomley and Dave Dyess were the only two to have a limit, Troy Beedle had the big fish for day one, for a weight of 3.79 pounds.
Day two was much different, it was a serious toad strangler from the start, with some lightning to go along with it. Some of the guys decided to stay in their trucks for a while hoping the heavy rain would slack off, but if it did it wasn't really noticeable. After waiting for a while, some of the guys went ahead and launched and some even went home. Those who stayed encountered even a tougher bite on day two. Mack Cramer was the only one to have a limit come weigh in time, good job Mack, and there was a new big fish for the year weighed in by Walter McCartney. A bucket mouth that weighed 5.29 lbs. Good job Walter.
The top 3 after day two was as follows:
