OLD BUSINESS:

The club discussed possible sites for the Oct. tournament / fish-off. Keep in mind any member can propose a site, research your idea's and have the information ready for presentation at the January meeting. The club will then discuss all site's proposed and then we will decide the site for the fish-off at the February meeting.
Your research for a site should include things like lodging facilities, boat ramp location, size of boat ramp, license requirements, cost projections, travel time etc. Try to keep the travel time to 10 hours or less.
As of now, the club is slated to fish Lake Martin in October. The sites projected so far are as follows:
Pickwick Lake
Lake Guntersville
St. Johns River
Toledo Bend
Ross Barnett Reservoir

These are places members have showed an interest in fishing in the month of October. The more info a member has for their proposed site, the easier it will be for the club to decide.

NEW BUSINESS:

Fred Raby has started a special fund. The money acquired throughout the year will go towards our fish-off in some way to benefit our club members. If anyone wants to auction items off or has any other way of raising funds, please bring it up and discuss it at the one of the meetings. We have four new members in the Panhandle Bass Club.
A big welcome goes to Don Jahnke, Dave Dyess, Tony Boyett and Wayne Thomley.
They were sponsored by Mack Cramer and Pete Potter.
A " get well soon" to Frank Bost from all the Panhandler's.
Sarge had an unfortunate mishap when he was stepping down off his boat and rolled his ankle pulling the ligaments.
Sarge will be in a cast for the next four weeks. Accidents can happen at any time, so to everyone, please be careful.

December Tournament:

The December tournament was held out of Cliff's landind on the Tensaw. There were 15 eager Panhandler's ready to get the day started at safe daylight. Most of the boats went south and very few went north. It was the coldest day of the year so far and most thought they would be in for a tough day of fishing but just the opposite happened.
Come weigh-in time, there were seven limits of fish weighed , 62 fish in all, totaling 86.59 lbs, and the big fish of the tournament weighed in at 4.72 lbs, caught by Chris Malena. Fred Raby also had a nice fish that weighed 4.34 lbs. Most of the fish were caught in the grass on worms and crank baits. The morning started out in the mid to upper 20's warming up into the 50's by afternoon, the tide was outgoing and the wind was light, the river was stained and the creeks for the most part were clear, water temp was in the mid 50's. A couple of the guys had battery problems but were fortunate enough to get help from fellow members. Everyone made it to the weigh-in on time and safe and sound. Congratulations to Fred Raby, Lee Brannon and Wally Cassiano for rounding out the top three of the tournament and to Chris Malena for landing the big fish of the tournament.
