MINUTES OF THE MEETING

The August meeting of the Panhandle Bass Club was brought to order at 6:30 p.m. on August 4th 2002.
The meeting was held at Founaris Brothers on Hwy 29 and was presided over by Fred Raby, club President.

OLD BUSINESS:

The members decided that the club logo, and the hat/shirt design's would be put on hold until the Nov. meeting.
Remember: The 2003 membership due's will be due at the Oct. meeting at a cost of $40.00 per member, it's just around the corner so make a note. Members can pay their due's early if they so desire.

NEW BUSINESS:

Three new members were voted into the Panhandle Bass Club, a big welcome to Frank Kelly, Pete Potter and
Gary Robarts.

Starting Sept 4th, 2002, the club will meet at Founaris Brothers restaurant on Hwy 29 just south of I-10 on the right. There is the stipulation that each member orders from the menu, this is little to ask in order to be able to hold our meetings in a private dining area, so have an appetite when the time comes.
A big thanks to Fred Raby for acquiring the new meeting location.
If you have a guest fishing with you, please remember to either pay the $5.00 for them or have them put it in an envelope with their name on it if their in the big fish pot, and give it to the treasurer at the meeting.

August Tournament:

The August tournament was held out of Hubbard's landing on the Tensaw River. There were 12 Panhandler's present to fish at safe daylight. The morning's weather was very nice and on the cool side, a couple of the guy's even put on light jackets, we won't mention any names though. The majority of the boats went south and a few went north, all hoping to catch the winning string. After the first hour or two, I think it was apparent to all of us it would be once again a tough summer day on the Tensaw. There must have been tournaments out of every landing south of Hubbard's because there were boats everywhere you looked. Around mid-morning, the wind picked up,
most of us were hoping it would somehow turn the fish on, but as it turned out, I think it made it worse.
At the weigh-in, all thoughts of a tough day came true. It was a sorry sight at the scales, one we would all like to forget. Congratulations are in order to Fred Raby for taking first place and to Wally Cassiano for catching the big fish of the day weighing in at 3.16 lbs. Most of the fish were caught on crank baits and worms.
Next month's tournament is at Lake Eufaula, which will be a two day tournament held out of Lake Point Marina.
